Voice notes can now be recorded and shared via WhatsApp status: Report
Now it is possible to share some kind of voice memo in WhatsApp status. Select Android beta testers have apparently started receiving the new Status feature. Instead of creating a video to send to your contacts, you can share a short voice message in a status.
The 2.23.2.8 update for WhatsApp is now rolling out through the Google Play beta program. According to a report by WaBetaInfo, this feature allows you to send voice status updates to a specific group of people that you specify in your privacy settings. These voice status updates are subject to the same 24-hour deadline as video, photo, and text updates. Some lucky WhatsApp beta testers will soon be able to send voice notes via status updates.

According to the screenshot shared, beta testers lucky enough to have the feature enabled can now send voice notes as status updates by accessing them from the text status section. By allowing users to delete a recording before sharing it, WhatsApp also gives users more control over their voice recordings. As already stated, voice notes can only be recorded for a maximum of 30 seconds and users need to update their version of WhatsApp to hear the voice notes posted via status.

When sharing voice notes as a status update, end-to-end encryption is always used to ensure that only the contacts you specify in your privacy settings hear them. Voice notes shared via status updates disappear after 24 hours, as do photos and videos, although users always have the option to delete voice notes for everyone once they’ve been posted as a status update.
